Best Vacuum Ever

A user called Pinchick from Louisiana has following experience with the Dyson DC14: "This vacuum rocks. Yes it does a great job. It's like nothing else on bare floors. But the best part is how easy it is to switch between bare floors and carpet or to take out the wand. With other vacuums I used to skip wanding with attachments half the time because it was a pain to switch to wand and back. Not so with this vacuum. The other best attribute is how easy it is to fix, when something "breaks". I few times the vacuum has gotten a piece knocked loose...a cinch to fix. Today I had something stuck in the hose. It took me 30 seconds to pull out the wand and stretch out the hose...voila...fixed. No unscrewing 4 screws and taking off the plate and trying to figure out where the blockage is. It practically fixed itself. I LOVE this vacuum. I've used it for 2 years sucking up kitty litter that the cats track out...tons of pet hair...sucking up leaves and grunge on my screen porch. This particular model said it would handle picking up bigger pieces and it really seems to. I seldom get out my shop vac. Get a Dyson. It's the vacuum you always wished you had."

A person who calls himself MOboy shared this experience with the Dyson DC14: "I am an engineer and love the way all the little parts fit together and pull apart. The assembly instructions were very good and I was Dysoning in just under 10 minutes. I have one dog in a one bedroom apt and after I vacuumed with my old vacuum I came back with the Dyson and had to empty the collection area twice (very easily done btw). The unit was also several dB quieter then my previous vacuum. You can actually carry on a conversation with another person why running the Dyson. The unit is constructed of a lot of plastic but everything seems sturdy enough to make it for at least 5 years or longer. The one thing that I didn't like about the plastic body is that it does develop quite a bit of static electricity (all those dust particles whizzing by) so you need to take off the attachment (easily done as well) and vacuum the head of the vacuum after you are done. Also the transition from carpeted floors and hard surfaces was very easy. Great product and I would buy again... well in 5 years if I had to."

The amount of dirt it picks out of the carpet and that goes into the canister is simply astounding. The canister is easy to empty and will empty without the dust cloud that other bagless vacuums create when emptied. The vacuum is very easy to maneuver on both my high pile carpet and the low pile carpet and cleans great on both. I also like the fact that the vacuum is fairly wide-it seems to save time over smaller vacuums. The cord is extremely long which is helpful for going around furniture and into other rooms. Some negatives are that the long pipe is hard to put back into the hose for storage when done. Also, the crevice tool that comes with the vacuum isn't straight which can be a nuisance. Overall, the incredible cleaning action of the Dyson DC-14 makes up for the few shortcomings. Now that I own a Dyson, I will never own another brand of vacuum. It really is true that you get what you pay for, and when it's the cleanliness of my house at stake, I think it's worth it to spend the extra money to get the best product."

"Time to be upfront, I researched a new vac for four weeks. My sister and I put in new carpet, paint , appliances and fantastic Persian rugs in our seven year old house. I am a dog trainer and have threes shelties as house pets, two cats, one meduim furred and live with a mother that refuses to take her gardening shoes off in the house. (I like to be barefoot).
I fully expect any vac that lives with me to be dead in three to four years. This is a given, and oh, my sister had asthma and allergies, I run a full house vac 2 to 3 times a week. (I do keep the shelties groomed and trimmed and the cats too.)
I love a clean house. My house never smells.
I bought the dyson at the local store, so I could return if it was not the right thing.
Its the same size and weight as my old sharp vac, (ignore the weight complaints, this is what a real vac weighs).
The suction is stunning, anyone with a vac over three years old should not be surprised at how much stuff is in the carpet.
What was scary was watching a brand new Hamadan 150 count Persian rug lifted in the jaws of this beast and shook. Like it was a cheap thin rug. scary.
I worked for two hours and now know how to work this incredible beast, like driving a real car for the first time. (In my life I have owned 7 vacs, including a rainbow).
Heavy area rugs must be vacumed backward, from the top to the bottom nearest you, push 6 inches, pull 12 inches. Heavy area rugs must be done very slowly!

Directions for the wand extension are poor, took me an hour to figqure out how to get the extension back on command. I love the length of the wand, I hate doing stairs and floor board. I de furred my sisters room, base boards, under the bed and all the crannies. The wand made it easy as and fast to do.
The only potential breakable part I see is the canister bottom, and sides,and hinge, it feels a bit fragile. (don't knock the tools in the garbage with the dirt.)
So it was a good buy, I paid $428 at the local fred meyer. I love the bagless, Love the wand extension, love the cleaning power.
I get many compliments from my clients about how nice my house is, and " it never smells like dog or cat."
